Episode 40: Aftermath

On the castle roof, the gang is still searching for Pegasus when Tea` finds something familiar about one of the castle's towers, like she's been there before and Tristan agrees. They follow her lead while Pegasus releases the three captured souls and explains why the tournament was really created and we see that Cecelia is the girl in the painting. Bakura enters, suggesting they wager their Millennium Items in a shadow game but not before playing the role of one using Tarot cards. After Pegasus' loss, Bakura simply takes the Millennium Eye and the gang outside hear his cries. The gang arrive at the entrance to discover Pegasus suddenly ill and being hauled out. The group arrives inside Pegasus' room and Tea` reads aloud what's in the diary along with a card with Cecilia on it, which falls to to the ground. Yugi notices the soul cards are blank, figuring that the souls of his grandpa and the Kaiba brothers are restored.

When Yugi heads down the stairs, a man appears, the same one in Pegasus' story but this time he ventures into Yugi's mind. Once inside, he discovers two rooms, one with toys and the other with Yu-Gi-Oh's spirit inside, whom warns to tread cautiously but has nothing to hide himself and lets him pass. He falls victim to two traps and Yugi aids in his escape from the 2nd one and learns a bit about Yu-Gi-Oh's memories and explains about the stone tablets they come across afterwards. Suddenly the Dark Magician appears, poised to strike but is convinced not to by Yugi himself, stopping his accomplice from summoning the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. As Dark Magician dissipates, the duo return to reality and the mysterious person apologizes for his intrusion, unaware that Yugi is the chosen one. Despite Yugi's abundance of questions, the man disappears,  revealing his name as Shadi, certain they'll meet again but the fate of the world rests on Yugi's shoulders.
