Starter Deck New Card Ratings (Page 3)

Starter Deck: Codebreaker
YS18-EN042
Card Type: Link Monster
Card Info Pentestag
DARK / Cyberse-Type Link / ATK 1600 / Link-2
Active Link Arrow(s):
Top and Bottom
2 Effect Monsters
If your linked monster attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.
SUPER RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: It's not going to take any benefits of its own effect and once it's gone so are its benefits. Really not a good choice if you want piercing battle damage effects.
YS18-EN041
Card Type: Link Monster
Card Info Transcode Talker
EARTH / Cyberse-Type Link / ATK 2300 / Link-3
Active Link Arrow(s):
Top, Right and Bottom
2+ Effect Monsters
While this card is co-linked, it and its co-linked monsters gain 500 ATK, also your opponent cannot target any of them with card effects. You can target 1 Link-3 or lower Cyberse Link Monster in your GY, except "Transcode Talker"; Special Summon it to your zone this card points to. You cannot Special Summon monsters the turn you activate this effect, except Cyberse monsters. You can only use this effect of "Transcode Talker" once per turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: It's really only remotely good with the very last effect, which also has a drawback and is limited to Link 3 or less Cyberse Link Monsters.
YS18-EN033
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Cynet Regression
Normal Trap
If you Special Summon a Link Monster(s): Target 1 card on the field; destroy it, then draw 1 card. You can only activate 1 "Cynet Regression" per turn.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: Honestly, not sure how much use this'll get given that Special Summoning Link Monsters generally takes more effort than this provides in return but it's not all that bad.
YS18-EN021
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Cynet Recovery
Continuous Spell
If a Link Monster(s) you control is destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect: You can target 1 monster in your GY, except a Link Monster; Special Summon it in Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Cynet Recovery" once per turn.
SUPER RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Link Monsters cost you monsters so it's nice this lets you bring one back but only in Defense Mode and only once per turn.
YS18-EN004
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Cyberse White Hat
LIGHT / Cyberse / Level 6 / ATK 1800 / DEF 2400
If you control 2 or more monsters with the same Type, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can only Special Summon "Cyberse White Hat" once per turn this way. If this card is sent to the GY as Link Material: You can make all monsters your opponent currently controls lose 1000 ATK until the end of this turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Pretty weak for a Level 6 monster and not even its DEF won't give it much credit. Plus, bringing it out by its effect requires you to have 2 monsters with the same Type, which is best in a Deck where all monsters are the same type.
YS18-EN003
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Widget Kid
EARTH / Cyberse / Level 3 / ATK 1500 / DEF 900
If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Cyberse monster from your hand in Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Widget Kid" once per turn.
SUPER RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Being searchable and having an effect that applies when Normal or Special Summoned certainly adds to its playability but it's limited to bringing out Cyberse monsters in Defense Mode and if the effect doesn't get used, it's done for.
YS18-EN002
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Texchanger
DARK / Cyberse / Level 1 / ATK 100 / DFE 100
Once per turn, when your monster is targeted for an attack: You can negate the attack, then Special Summon 1 Cyberse Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or GY.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: It includes itself but will only get to negate one attack and bring out a friend before inevitably suffering a quick demise in the next attack from the same Battle Phase.
YS18-EN001
Card Type: Normal Monster
Card Info Leotron
EARTH / Cyberse / Level 4 / ATK 2000 / DEF 0
A territorial electronic monster that guards its own domain.
COMMON
Rating: 3
Comments: This seems to be the norm now of releasing another 2000 ATK Level 4 vanilla beatstick with Starter Decks and booster sets. Of course, we've come a long way since the very first one was released in STON-EN. Still, it has about as much playability as the others released.
Starter Deck: Link Strike
YS17-EN043
Card Type: Link Monster
Card Info Link Spider
EARTH / Cyberse-Type Link / ATK 1000 / Link-1
Active Link Arrow(s): Bottom
1 Normal Monster
Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Normal Monster from your hand to your zone this card points to.
SUPER RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: The easiest to Link Summon and weakest of the Link Monsters in this Starter Deck but thanks to the ability to use Link numbers to subtract them from required monsters for other Link Monsters helps a bit, though its ATK and the rule that forces Link Monsters to be in Attack Mode at all times won't do it any good.
YS17-EN042
Card Type: Link Monster
Card Info Honeybot
LIGHT / Cyberse-Type Link / ATK 1900 / Link-2
Active Link Arrow(s): Left and Right
2 Cyberse monsters
Neither player can target monsters this card points to with card effects, and those monsters cannot be destroyed by battle.
SUPER RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: It's weaker than Decode Talker and has Type specific Link Materials but at least the ATK isn't so weak that this guy becomes unplayable. It's also viable with Honest too.
YS17-EN041
Card Type: Link Monster
Card Info Decode Talker
DARK / Cyberse-Type Link / ATK 2300 / Link-3
Active Link Arrow(s): Top, Bottom-Left and Bottom-Right
2+ Effect Monsters
Gains 500 ATK for each monster it points to. When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets a card(s) you control (Quick Effect): You can Tribute 1 monster this card points to; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: It's more difficult to bring out but is the strongest of the three Link Monsters in this Starter Deck, though I wouldn't count on getting much out of the effects.
YS17-EN021
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Cynet Universe
Field Spell
All Link Monsters you control gain 300 ATK. Once per turn: You can target 1 monster in the GY; shuffle it into the Deck. If this card on the field is destroyed by a card effect: Send all monsters in the Extra Monster Zones to the GY.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: The minimal ATK boost won't help you that much now, especially given that we don't have many Link Monsters to work with. The other effects aren't that great either.
YS17-EN004
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Linkslayer
EARTH / Cyberse / Level 5 / ATK 2000 / DEF 600
If you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn: You can discard up to 2 cards, then target that many Spells/Traps on the field; destroy them.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: On your first turn, you'll be able to bring this guy out but the effect will cost you cards from your hand, making it only marginally playable.
YS17-EN003
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info RAM Clouder
LIGHT / Cyberse / Level 4 / ATK 1800 / DEF 1000
You can Tribute 1 monster, then target 1 Cyberse monster in your GY; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "RAM Clouder" once per turn.
SUPER RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: So the new foil Level and attribute (not to mention unnecessary phrase shortening) continues here and with a good monster to resume the chain with, though the effect probably won't get much use.
YS17-EN002
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Draconnet
DARK / Cyberse / Level 3 / ATK 1400 / DEF 1200
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 2 or lower Normal Monster from your hand or Deck in Defense Position.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: Bitron is an obvious candidate to work with this as it meets the criteria and has higher DEF than most monsters with its Level. However, this guy can't do much if it's not Normal Summoned.
YS17-EN001
Card Type: Normal Monster
Card Info Bitron
EARTH / Cyberse / Level 2 / ATK 200 / DEF 2000
A new species found in electronic space. There's not much information on it.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: Konami has taken an additional unnecessary step to further signify that this is a Normal Monster with the word Normal as a sub-type but there's not much use for this card apart from its 2000 DEF and use with Link Summoning.
