Episode 124: Duel for Redemption | |||
We find Lazar slacking off with a video game until Jack comes in and he tries to
make it look like he's busy. Jack asks about the match with Dragen and whether
or not it was a set-up. Lazar plays dumb and acts like he doesn't know what Jack
is referring to until Jack grabs his collar. Jack learns that indeed Dragen's
words were true and he lets go of Lazar and walks away. Back in their hideout,
the group discuss the matter and Bruno finds video of Jack's rise to the top.
However, no one is interested thanks to the news they've received. Elsewhere,
Jack stares into the river below, recalling everything Dragen had told him and
concludes he never was a champ and never will be. Meanwhile, the group watch the
movie anyway and realize the key points. Jack comes up the stairs to see everyone unhappy and discovers the movie but Bruno hides it, claiming to know nothing about it. Leo brings it up and gets an earful from Jack before Jack storms off. Later that night, Yusei comes to see Jack and agrees to apologize to Leo for Jack as the whole ordeal has been really hard on him. The only way the matter will be resolved is in tomorrow's duel and Jack walks away. The next day, while the MC announces the start of the next duel between Team 5Ds and Team Ragnarok, Lazar is losing his cool over what'll happen if Jack loses but his guard convinces him to be more confident and maintains that Jack deserves better. Jack and Dragen make their way to the starting line and once duel preparations are done and the light goes green, they're off. Jack gets the lead and both draw the same hands they had in the match Dragren threw for money. Jack's draw is also the same as in that duel but plays Top Runner (1100) in Attack Mode. It's all the proof Dragen needs to conclude that it's the same duel as Jack sets 2 cards to end his turn. Much like before, Dragen draws and summons Garrmr of the Nordic Beasts (800) in Attack Mode before setting 1 card to end his turn. Jack draws and summons Power Breaker (1900) in Attack Mode, then uses his monsters as Synchro Material (since TR is a Tuner) for Red Dragon Archfiend (3000) in Attack Mode. Now they're where the match was thrown and Jack attacks but Dragen activates Nordic Relic Brisingamen, making his monster's ATK equal Jack's and should Jack's monster get destroyed, Jack takes damage equal to its ATK. (The real card doesn't do anything after making your monster's ATK equal the other monster's ATK.) However, Jack is ready with Reaction Summon to Special Summon Top Runner from his Graveyard since the ATK of Dragen's monster changed. Due to TR's effect, RDA gains 600 ATK to 3600 and takes out Garmr to leave Dragen down to 3400 LPs. With Garmr destroyed, Dragen now Special Summons Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts (1100) in Defense Mode. (The real card returns the monster it battled with to the hand.) To keep TR safe from RDA's side effect, Jack attacks with TR, not destroying either monster. After Jack sets 1 card to end his turn, Dragen draws and switches Tanngnjostr to Attack Mode, letting him Special Summon Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts (1200) in Attack Mode. Next he Special Summons Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts (1600) in Attack Mode since Jack has a Synchro Monster but he himself does not. After that, he uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Thor, Lord of the Aesir (3500) in Attack Mode. (The real card is an EARTH Beast-Warrior-Type monster.) Since it's not strong enough, Dragen uses Thor's effect to negate TR's effect and use it himself, raising Thor's ATK by 600 to 4100 and returning RDA's ATK to 3000. Dragen's attack with Thor destroys RDA and leaves Jack down to 2900 LPs. Jack needs to face it that his reputation was made up by Goodwin and Thor will put Jack out of his misery for good! |
