Episode 3: Pipe Dreams | |||
Inside Satellite, Nervin tells Yusei literally everything he knows and Rally gives Yusei a Turbo Booster card for good luck. Yusei zips up above ground and Sector Security spots him with Trudge to give chase. With just minutes to go before the sewer hatch opens, Nervin, Tank, Rally and their friend get a topside view and a clear signal to see Yusei heading in the right direction. However, Trudge has caught up to Yusei, whom is surprised to see him but nevertheless forges on with Trudge in hot pursuit. Worse still, Trudge can force Yusei to Turbo Duel and does just that. Trudge begins the duel with Gate Blocker (2000) in Defense Mode, preventing Yusei from gaining Speed Counters during his turn. Trudge underestimated Yusei's deck last time and nearly got traffic duty but now his Gate Blocker Monster Card (not Spell Card as he says from 8:07 to 8:10 into the US episode). He sets 1 card to end his turn and Yusei now comes to grips with the situation before drawing and playing Speed Warrior (900) in Attack Mode, a card Trudge remembers from before but Yusei Special Summons Turbo Booster (0000) in Attack Mode as SW's ATK doubles to 1800 for the turn. His attack destroys GB and leaves his score down to 3800. While he makes it into the pipeline, Trudge follows suit and activates Broken Blocker to Special Summon more Gate Blockers since Trudge lost a monster with more DEF than ATK. Yusei sets 2 cards to end his turn. Trudge draws and plays Gonogo (1350) in Attack Mode and takes out the weaker SW, leaving Yusei down to 1350 as the clock ticks down for his escape opportunity. Yusei draws, pleased with the result and plays Junk Synchron (1300) in Attack Mode (though it shows its ATK at 900 at 13:19 into the episode). Next he uses Graceful Revival to bring back SW, then sends both monsters to the Grave for Junk Warrior (2300) in Attack Mode. His attack destroys Trudge's Gonogo and leaves Trudge down to 3050. Trudge also knows how to Synchro Summon and plays Jutte Fighter (700) in Attack Mode, which Yusei realizes is a Tuner monster, and send it with a Gate Blocker to bring out Goyo Guardian (2800) in Attack Mode. His attack with GG destroys Yusei's JW and leaves Yusei down to 2850 LPs and brings JW straight to Trudge's field without destroying it. (The real card has to destroy a monster in battle and send it to the Graveyard first.) Furthermore, Trudge activates not one but two Speed Spell - Sonic Buster cards, each dealing half the ATK of 1 monster he has, resulting in Yusei taking half of GG's ATK twice, leaving his score down to 50. (A card called Misfortune has this effect but you don't get your Battle Phase the turn it's used.) Yusei draws and plays Nitro Synchron (300) in Attack Mode. Next he activates Speed Spell - Dash Pilfer to gain control of Trudge's Defense Position JW as he explains that he also activated Slip Stream to give him the same number of Speed Counters that Trudge had right before the second SS - SB was activated. Next he uses NS and his reacquired JW as Synchro Material for Nitro Warrior (2800) in Attack Mode. Thanks to NW's first effect, it gains 1000 ATK the turn a Speed Spell is played (the effect activates whenever any Spell Card is played in the CG), raising its ATK to 3800 and it takes out GG to leave Trudge down to 2050. Due to NW's other effect, it can switch one of Trudge's monsters in Defense Mode to Attack Mode and attack it. It changes Gate Blocker to Attack Mode and destroys it, winning Yusei the duel but not costing him his freedom as he manages to just slide through the hatch, leaving Trudge to deal with the mound of garbage that carries him away. Now in New Domino City, Yusei moves along before spotting his old friend Jack Atlas and isn't happy to see him! |
